Just Delta being Delta...

We show up at DTW around 12 for our flight at 1:35. From Detroit we plan to fly to Newark, to Rome, and then to Athens. As soon as we get our tickets we find out our flight has been delayed 50 minutes and is now scheduled at 2:25 knocking our layover time in Newark down to 40 minutes. Then about 10 minutes before takeoff they drop an additional 40 minutes on us, which was then followed by an hour delay. By the time we landed in Newark we missed our flight by about an hour.

Then began the fun process of trying to figure out what the hell to do. We ended up swinging by the ticket office and after about 45 minutes of talking to the guy behind the desk we were able to get tickets on AirFrance that leave for Paris at 8 PM the next day and don't get us to Athens until 12:30 AM on the following day. We do have an 9 hour layover in Rome so we plan on seeing some of Rome during that time (given we get there, but since we are flying AirFrance and not Delta it is pretty likely).

The next step was finding a place to stay and doing it without a cell phone! I ended dropping $5 in the pay phone since it cost $1 per call! Luckily I was able to get in contact with my friend from UM, Greg. Him and his roommate Jason let us crash at their place in Manhattan.

As for now it is about 9AM in NYC and we gotta start planning on what we are going to do for the rest of our time here. and for our 9 hour layover in Rome.
